Duraflow’s Tubular Membrane Application
Bulletin “Softening and Recycling”
This bulletin describes the use of Duraflow Tubular Membranes for treating various sources of naturally occurring water and industrial wastewater that contain high concentrations of hardness elements. The bulletin documents the challenges facing these industries as they attempt to purify these waters or wastes by desalination using reverse osmosis membranes, forward osmosis membranes or ion exchange resin technologies. Removal of scale forming species is mandatory prior to TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) removal because the performance of these technologies degrade with the formation of scale. These contaminants (hardness, heavy metals, organics, silica, biological matter and detergents, if necessary) are targeted to be treated and separated with the Duraflow Tubular Membrane product. The bulletin will explain how this is done.
Since every industry that wishes to purify its water has different clean water quality objectives, Duraflow has developed a standard procedure for approaching each customer location. This procedure uses water analysis and chemical process development to meet the customer's objectives, the membrane microfiltration total system engineering design, and detailed recommendations optimizing the performance of the desalination equipment.
